Paul Evans has created a fantastic
and unique eBook called ‘Instant Speaking Success’, which is aimed at
beginner public speakers. In the book he goes through seven steps to
writing, preparing and practising a speech, as well as how to find
information for your speeches and what areas of public speaking beginners
should be concentrating on and what areas they shouldn’t.
Paul Evans has been a public
speaking coach for fifteen years. He is the founder of Evans Communication
and Consulting. Each year he speaks to thousands at conventions and
conferences on the topics of personal/professional accelerated achievement
and communication. He is also a minister, which gives him another
opportunity to improve, apply and refine his public speaking techniques.
What you get is a 133 page eBook
which explains how to become an instant speaking success. It discusses the
seven P’s of writing, preparing and practicing a speech. Also included are
three short reports on “Fear Factors”, “Preparing Your Speech in Under an
Hour” and “Funny Business”. Also if you pay an extra $20 you can receive a
set of four videos on “Creating Your Own Speech in Under an Hour Using the
Internet”
Instant Speaking Success is
brilliant value for money at only $29.95. Instead of pricing it around $97
which he could have sold it for, I believe that Paul has deliberately made
the price cheap so that his information can get out to a wider audience. I
applaud him for it. Also the videos are brilliant value at an extra $20, and
I would highly recommend that you take advantage of that offer.
There is a large amount of
information that new public speakers can take out of this eBook. The
“Irrefutable laws of speaking” are excellent, and I would highly recommend
that every new speaker write each of them down and memorise them. I also
like the format of filling in the blanks and answering questions, which is
an opportunity for the reader to apply what they have just learnt. These
activities make this eBook more of a workbook which the reader can work
through, which may appeal to some. There is also a clear structure which is
very easy to follow, and you rarely get confused with the ideas that Paul is
presenting. The bonuses are also of a good standard and applicable to public
speaking success.
On the downside, I do feel that he
does waffle on a bit too much on occasions, therefore, it was easy to be
distracted and lose interest. An example of this was his “25 Places to Find
Good Stuff” - most of these ideas were very basic and boring. Also I found
that there were no benefits or reasons for intermediate or expert speakers
to buy this book. As an intermediate speaker I found that there was there
was nothing new to learn and the information presented was very basic.
Consequently, I struggled to read through the book at some stages.
On the upside I did enjoy the videos
on “Creating Your Own Speech in Under an Hour Using the Internet”, and they
were undoubtedly worth the extra $20. I wouldn’t say that you would learn
anything new or unique, but it is another way of learning, memorising and
applying the material that he covers in the eBook. Paul also interprets and
explains his ideas differently in the videos, which may make them easier to
understand. The best benefit of these videos is the fact that Paul plans a
speech right in front of you, and takes you the process and what he is
thinking. Just seeing a speech planned in front of you is priceless
information to new speakers.
Overall I think this is a great
guide for beginners. If you have never purchased a public speaking product
before then I suggest that you look no further and purchase “Instant
Speaking Success”. I also highly recommend that you take advantage of
upgrading and purchasing the videos, as they are invaluable to new public
speakers. All in all, this is a very good eBook by Paul Evans, and I look
forward to purchasing and reviewing his other products.
