The Secret To Public Speaking - Have you ever wondered if there was a secret to public speaking? Did you wonder if there was something that effective public speakers all seem to know, but you don’t? Do you think that this secret is some multi-page technique that takes hours to explain and years to practice and perfect? Did you ever think that people with good public speaking skills were born and not made?

Do I Distract My Audience When I Am Speaking? - Have you had this scenario occur to you, as it has occurred to me? You have spent a long time preparing for your speech and now you are feeling quietly confident.  As you begin  your speech you feel that you are doing fine – you’re speaking clearly with very few mistakes and everything seems to be going to plan. Then all of a sudden you see one of the audience members whisper to their companion beside them, point at you and snigger! Then you notice someone else doing it, and another, and another!

The Number One Mistake That Newbies Make When Planning A Speech - I want to ask you a question. If you have several topics to cover in a single speech where would you put the most important? First or last? Let’s imagine what a complete beginner would do when planning their speech. First they pick the topic. Then they brainstorm ideas for their topic. They look at what they have brainstormed and ranked them from best to worst. Then they put their best one as their first paragraph, then their second best as their second paragraph and so on.

Ten Reasons Why People Fear Public Speaking - Every single person who has ever done a speech in public will admit that they had been scared. We all know the usual signs, butterflies in the stomach, always on the toilet, even just wanting to be anywhere else but on stage! But why? Why are we so scared of doing a public speech? Research has shown that people fear public speaking more than they fear dying! So why are we so petrified of getting up in front of an audience and delivering a speech?

Cue Cards - Useful Tool Or Hindrance To Public Speaking Success? - I find it amusing the fact that cue cards are an essential part of the training of junior public speakers and debaters, yet you will never hear it mentioned when experienced public speakers are involved. Why is this so? Are cue cards a useful tool or a hindrance to public speaking?

Two Words That Changed My Public Speaking Forever - Isn’t it ironic that despite the fact that I have read many books, purchased many products and substantially invested in myself, the best public speaking tip that I have received is only two words long? Two very simple words changed my thinking on public speaking more than any textbook, audio or video ever has.

Pointers For Using PowerPoint Presentations Properly - If ever there was a tool that could add so much to your public speaking, yet can also be the biggest downfall for a public speaker, then PowerPoint is that tool. Debate has been raging whether you should use PowerPoint presentations or not in your speech – some speakers swear by this program, whilst others won’t go near it.

Do I Need To Use Big Words In My Speech? - Should you be using simple words in your speech so everyone can understand you, or should your speech contain a complicated and extensive vocabulary that impresses your addressees? Like everything in public speaking, it all comes down to your audience. If you correctly identify your audience, then you should be able to work out which level of vocabulary you should use.

Keeping Your Old Speeches - Have you ever struggled for an idea for your next speech? Or better still, have you ever had to do a speech on a topic which you have already talked about to a different audience? The only problem is that you cannot remember a word of it! All that you remember was the topic and that your audience liked it!
